Sintered Ferrite Magnets VS Injection Molded Ferrite Magnets

Permanent ferrite magnet is mainly divided into sintered ferrite magnets and injection molded ferrite magnets , these two kinds of magnets are also many customers to consult to us.Recently a customer asked that the differannces between injection ferrite magnets and sintered ferrite magnets. Today Xiaofu from the appearance, preparation process, wear resistance, tolerance, temperature resistance, magnetic properties and other aspects of the comparison.

Sintered ferrite magnet brief introduction:

Sintered ferrite production process and product appearance is very similar to ceramic, so it is also known as ceramic magnet, sintered ferrite cost is low, but has excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, the highest working temperature can reach 250℃, it need the mold, the shape is mainly round, ring, segment, block, cylindrical.

Injection ferrite magnet brief introduction:

Injection molding ferrite is a kind of bonded magnet produced by injection molding process, it will mix and granulate ferrite magnetic powder with nylon 12 (PA12), nylon 6 (PA6) or polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and other thermoplastic binders and additives. It can be injected together with the axis, and the highest working temperature can reach 150℃. The production also needs mold.

After a brief introduction, let's look at some of their differences!

  • The difference in preparation method

    Sintered ferrite: Sintered ferrite is prepared by pressing the ferrite powder into shape at high temperature and conducting a sintering process at high temperature. This process involves the compaction, heating, and cooling of the powder to achieve particle bonding and densification.

    Injection molded ferrite: Injection molded ferrite is prepared by mixing ferrite powder with thermoplastic resin and then using injection molding process. This process involves heating and melting the mixture, injecting it into the mold, and then cooling and curing to obtain the desired shape.

  • Injection ferrite and sintered ferrite shape difference;

    Injection molding ferrite magnets is directly formed through the model injection molding, so you can do some complex shapes, and sintering ferrite magnet can not, can only make the simple corner cutting, slotting, punching processing.

  • Tolerance

    Injection molded ferrite magnets have higher dimensional accuracy, with a typical tolerance of ±0.08mm, while sintered ferrite magnets tolerances are often ±0.1mm.

  • Collision resistance

    Injection molded ferrite magnets have nylon components, which make them more resistant to fall and wear, it is less fragile when dropped on the ground.

    Sintered ferrite magnets is not so lucky if it falls on the ground, it can easily break and crack.

  • Magnetic strength comparison;

    The magnetic properties of sintered ferrite magnets are higher than those of injection molded ferrites.

  • Temperature resistance difference between sintered and injection molded ferrite magnets;

     As mentioned in the beginning, sintering ferrite magnet has better temperature resistance, up to 250℃, injection molding ferrite magnet only 150℃.

Nowadays, in the motor and motor industry, injection molded ferrite is also one of the main magnetic materials to replace sintered ferrite, in addition to injection molded neodymium magnets, bonded neodymium magnets, etc. If you need samples and price, welcome to contact the online customer service at website.
