Four Waveforms of Multipolar Magnetic Rings

In the magnetic property testing of multipolar magnetic rings, magnetic circuit test waveforms serve as core indicators for evaluating magnetization quality, magnetic field distribution uniformity, and application compatibility. Currently, four common and representative magnetic circuit test waveforms are primarily used: sine wave, trapezoidal wave, square wave, and saddle wave. Below is an introduction to their characteristics and waveform diagrams.

First Type: Sine Wave Form

Characteristics: Exhibits continuous, smooth periodic variation. Magnetic flux density transitions naturally from positive to negative peaks without distinct inflection points or abrupt changes. Magnetic field distribution between adjacent poles is uniform with excellent symmetry.

Sine Wave Form

The second type: Trapezoidal Waveform

Characteristics: Trapezoidal waves exhibit relatively flat peak regions with steep rising and falling edges, maintaining a stable high magnetic flux density at the pole center.

Trapezoidal Waveform

Third Type: Square Waveform

Characteristics: Magnetic flux density exhibits an approximate “switching-type” variation between adjacent poles, with extremely rapid transitions from positive to negative peaks. The rising and falling edges are steep and abrupt, with virtually no transition zone. In the central region of the poles, the magnetic flux density approaches a constant value and rapidly reaches saturation. The pole boundaries are distinct, and the demarcation between magnetic polarities is clear.

Square Waveform

Fourth type: Saddle wave waveform

Features: The saddle wave exhibits slight concavity or double-peak phenomena in the positive and negative peak regions, with an overall shape resembling a "saddle." The magnetic flux density at the pole center is slightly lower, while the sides are higher.
