An axial flux motor operates by utilising the interaction between permanent magnets (the rotor) and electromagnets to drive the rotor’s rotation. When the stator coils are energised and become electromagnets, they generate north and south poles. As the north and south poles of the rotor are fixed, and based on the principle that like poles repel and opposite poles attract, the south pole of the rotor is attracted to the north pole of the stator, whilst the north pole of the rotor is repelled by the north pole of the stator. This creates a tangential force component, thereby driving the rotor to rotate.
The magnets used in axial flux motors are primarily arc-shaped, wedge-shaped, trapezoidal or fan-shaped. They are mainly made of rare-earth neodymium, and their dimensions are typically customised. Should you require a quotation, please send us an enquiry.
