Radially Magnetized Cross Shaped Plastic Magnet Rotors

Radially magnetized cross-shaped plastic-magnet rotors represent a typical structure among injection-molded permanent magnet rotors. In recent years, they have seen widespread application in small motors and position detection systems. This article primarily introduces the structural characteristics and applications of this type of magnet.

Cross-shaped plastic-magnetic rotors are typically formed in a single injection molding process using plastic-magnetic materials, most commonly plastic-magnetic ferrite. The rotor cross-section features a “cross” structure, with a central shaft hole that can be directly reserved for integration with the shaft during injection molding. Compared to solid cylindrical structures, this cross-shaped skeleton maintains the effective volume of the magnet while reducing material usage. It also facilitates weight reduction and improves dynamic balance performance.

Radial magnetization is the core characteristic of this type of rotor, commonly appearing as radial multipole magnetization (e.g., 4-pole, 8-pole). Beyond cross-shaped configurations, twisted-pair designs are also employed.

Regarding its applications, both the cross-shaped structure and the twisted-cable configuration are designed to facilitate rotation within water flow. The rotor is typically mounted on a support shaft within the water channel, driven by the flow to rotate. Typical product applications include household water meters, flow meters for water purifiers, flow monitoring in central air conditioning systems and boiler circulation water, as well as industrial flow sensors for monitoring cooling water, chemical liquids, and more.

The above covers the characteristics and applications of radially magnetized cross-shaped plastic-coated magnetic rotors. Should your company require purchasing this type of magnet, please contact us for a quote.
