KTH7812 is a 16-bit Hall magnetic encoder that supports conventional radial disks, circular rings, and multi-pole magnetic rings. Today, our editor will provide a size recommendation for the magnet used in it.
If you intend to use the product for angle detection or position feedback, we recommend shaft-end (on-shaft) mounting, using a circular magnet made of N35–N52 material (<80°C), with the entire diameter magnetised. Available dimensions are 8 × 2.5 mm, 10 × 2.5 mm and 12 × 3 mm, with a maximum mounting tolerance of 0.3 mm.
For off-axis mounting, you can use a circular magnet with a diameter of 10 mm or a ring magnet with an outer diameter of 10 mm; a thickness of around 2.5 mm should suffice.
For motor speed measurement and high-precision position detection, a multi-pole magnetic ring (eccentric shaft installation) is recommended, which can achieve high-resolution detection. The specification requires that the magnetic pole width be greater than 2mm, with no restrictions on the diameter of the magnetic ring. The chip operates in a magnetic field of 30-150mt. For the optimal placement location, contact the original factory FAE for magnetic field simulation. Materials such as injection-molded ferrite and injection-molded neodymium iron boron can be selected.
