3115 Drone Motor Magnets [Material Size Installation]

There are countless models of drone motors, including common ones such as the 3110, 2812, 4214, 3115, 5008, and 5015. Today, we will focus on the magnets used in the 3115 model, covering their material, dimensions, grade, and key installation points.


Most 3115 drone motors use sintered neodymium magnets. Since drone motors require high RPM and high thrust, neodymium-iron-boron is undoubtedly the most suitable choice, as it helps the motor achieve powerful performance.


Since most 3115 drone motors feature an external rotor design, the magnets must be affixed to the inner surface of the motor housing. Consequently, the magnets are primarily arc-shaped (magnetic tiles) with a slight curve to better conform to the rotor.

Regarding the temperature resistance of drone magnets: during prolonged flight, the internal temperature of the motor rises. Ordinary-grade magnets would certainly not suffice under these conditions, so many manufacturers opt for H-grade or higher materials. Commonly used grades include N50H and N52H. The dimensions of the magnets in question are approximately R17.25 × r15.75 × L15 × W6.0 mm, with 14 pieces per set, with a nickel-copper-nickel surface finish.


For installation, the curved neodymium magnets should be adhered to the inner wall of the outer rotor in an alternating N-pole and S-pole pattern, maintaining uniform spacing. During installation, special attention must be paid to the polarity orientation, adhesive strength, and dynamic balance consistency; otherwise, it may lead to motor vibration, overheating, or reduced efficiency.
