About Special Shape Samarium Cobalt Magnets

Special shaped samarium cobalt magnets are non-standard shaped magnets made of samarium cobalt material (SmCo), also known as shaped samarium cobalt magnets. They are different from the common standard geometric shapes such as cylinder, square, ring, etc., but they are processed again on these shapes, such as drilling holes, slotting, cutting edges, grinding edges to form the uncommon samarium cobalt magnets.

Special shapes of samarium cobalt magnets that can be processed

Such as fan, V-shape, wedge, T-shape, convex, step shape, fluted round/square, semi-circular, with holes (through holes/countersunk holes), notches, bevels, etc.

Why use Samarium Cobalt for special shaped magnets?

The main reason is that samarium cobalt material is much better than neodymium magnets in terms of high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Conventional samarium cobalt magnets can withstand temperatures as high as 250°C~350°C, and special formulations can even reach 500°C or more without additional coatings.

Where are special shaped smco magnets used?

Mostly used in marine, chemical, high humidity area. Such as turbine engines, attitude control system sensors, missile gyroscopes, magnetron actuators, radar components, high-temperature and high-pressure environment of the magnetron valves and logging instrumentation high-speed brushless motor rotor magnets, magnetic components in turbochargers, electronically controlled brake systems, chemical pumps, high-temperature sterilization of the environment of the magnetic components.

The above is about the definition of special shaped samarium cobalt magnets, the shape that can be processed, as well as the use of the introduction, if the magnet is not used for higher temperatures you can consider high temperature grade neodymium magnets, the cost-effective will be higher.
