Application of Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet in Valves

Rare earth neodymium magnets have a wide range of applications in the valve industry due to their strong magnetic properties and durability, mainly concentrated in two categories: switch type valves and proportional valves. The following are their specific applications.

Neodymium magnets are commonly used in proportional valves for position sensing and magnetic coupling of the drive components.

Position of neodymium magnet in proportional valve

The switch type valve is mainly used to achieve a clear action of opening and closing the valve, that is, the two states of "open" or "closed". In this type of valve, the role of neodymium magnets is mainly reflected in magnetic position induction. By cooperating with sensors such as Hall elements and reed switches, the open/close status of the valve can be detected. Typical applications include solenoid valves, pneumatic valves, and electric valves. Suction and locking functions, as well as limit control.

Proportional valves require continuous adjustment of opening based on control signals and are commonly used for fine control of flow, pressure, or temperature. In this type of valve, neodymium magnets play a more precise role, such as feedback detection systems that use neodymium magnets in combination with magnetic encoders or linear Hall sensors to achieve closed-loop feedback of opening position. Some high-end proportional valves use permanent magnet motor drive mechanisms, with neodymium magnets as an important component of the motor stator or rotor to improve drive efficiency and response sensitivity. Linear displacement sensing can also be achieved by using neodymium magnets to form magnetic field gradients on guide rods or sliding components, which can be coupled with sensors to sense their position changes and achieve linear control.

The above is our detailed introduction to the application of rare earth neodymium magnets in valves. We hope it will be helpful to you. In addition to the valve industry, there are many other industries that cannot do without rare earth neodymium magnets. We will continue to introduce the specific details to you in the future.
