What does n50 mean in magnets?

Among modern magnetic materials, NdFeB magnets are widely used in all kinds of high-tech devices for their powerful magnetic properties. The strength of NdFeB magnet is measured by its magnetic energy product, and N50 is a common grade marking, the following is a more detailed meaning, characteristics, applications and other introductions.


First of all, when we see N50 magnet, we have to know that it is a neodymium magnet, N50 is the performance grade, which stands for the maximum magnetic energy product (BHmax) of this magnet. Magnetic energy product is an important indicator of the magnet's performance, which determines the magnet's strength and usability.

The meaning of N50 is: “N” stands for Neodymium magnet series (NdFeB), and “50” means that the maximum magnetic energy product of this magnet is about 50 MGOe. Magnetic energy product (BHmax) is an important parameter to measure the strength and performance of magnets, the larger the value is, the stronger the magnet is, and it can achieve the same magnetic effect with a smaller volume.


It should be noted that N50 is only a standard for NdFeB magnets and does not represent the only strength. Other grades such as N48, N52, etc. are also common, with N52 being the stronger grade of neodymium magnets on the market today.


Performance Characteristics of N50 Magnets

As mentioned earlier, the N50 has a maximum magnetic energy product of 50 MGOe, which provides a higher magnetic field strength than other grades of magnets (e.g. N35, N38, etc.).
