How does the magnet Gauss value correspond to the grade?

The gauss value data and performance grade of magnets are often asked by customers. Magnetic performance is an important index for evaluating the quality of magnets, while the performance grade signifies the material properties and magnetic performance of magnets, how do they correspond to each other? The article will bring you a general understanding.


There is a certain correspondence between the gauss value of a magnet and its grade, but this relationship is not an absolute one-to-one correspondence, but relative. This is mainly because the performance of magnets is affected by a variety of factors, including but not limited to material grade, size and shape, and direction of magnetization.

Approximate correspondence between common magnet grades and gauss values;


N35 grade NdFeB magnets have a surface magnetic field strength of approximately 1700 to 3500 gauss.


N38 grade NdFeB magnets have a surface magnetic field strength of approximately 2000 to 3800 gauss.


Higher grade magnets, such as the N48 grade, have surface magnetic field strengths between approximately 2500 and 4800 gauss.

Ferrite Y10 grade surface gauss values are generally around 400-700 gauss. Y30 grade is generally around 700-1700 gauss, with around 1100 gauss being more common.
