What Is A Countersunk Magnet Disc?

Regarding countersunk magnets, we've previously covered many aspects including their magnetization direction, functions, applications, popular FAQs, types, and customization options. Today, we'll introduce what a circular (disc) countersunk magnet is.

Countersunk magnet disc, also known as countersunk magnet rings or circular magnets with countersunk hole, refer to circular magnets—typically neodymium circular magnets—with countersunk holes drilled into their surfaces. These holes usually feature a flared structure, narrower at the bottom and wider at the top, facilitating screw installation for secure mounting in required locations.

Most countersunk magnet discs are manufactured by machining ring magnets and then creating a tapered countersink on one side of the magnet. A small number of customers opt for double-sided countersinking. For more details, refer to this article: [Round Shaped Double Sided Countersunk Magnets].

For circular countersunk magnets, we can produce samples according to your specifications. Common diameter ranges typically span 6-50mm, with thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm. Hole sizes generally include M3, M4, M6, and M8.

Although most countersunk magnets are made of neodymium, they can also be manufactured using permanent magnet materials such as ceramic ferrite or samarium cobalt, depending primarily on your application and budget.

Samarium cobalt countersunk magnet disk case; Heat resistant sink hole magnet ring for oven door 12x3.8mm

For scenarios requiring two circular countersunk magnets to attract face-to-face—such as cabinet doors, cover plates, or removable magnetic structures—industrial magnetic attachments and magnetic connectors may need paired magnetization. If you're unsure, refer to this article: What does paired magnetization mean?

The above covers the introduction to some countersunk circular magnets. Most countersink positions are centered, though some may be offset to the left or right. For larger-sized countersunk circular magnets, the countersink position may be located at the edge—all of which can be machined.
