Today's magnet related question: How many pole magnetic rings are equipped with a 12 slot stator?

Slot and Pole Combination Table

Slot and Pole Combination Table

For a fractional slot concentrated winding permanent magnet motor with 12 slots, the rotor magnetic ring has 8 magnetic poles, 10 magnetic poles, 14 magnetic poles, 16 magnetic poles, and the magnetic field direction of the magnetic poles is radial.

12 slots with 8 poles, which means 4 pairs of magnetic poles. This type of slot pole combination is quite common, with a certain offset between the number of slots and poles, resulting in relatively smooth motor operation. It is more suitable for motors that require speed, efficiency, and operational stability, such as fans, water pumps, and some small brushless motors.

12 slots with 10 poles, which means 5 pairs of magnetic poles, are also a commonly used combination. Compared to 8 poles, 10 poles have more magnetic poles, which is usually more conducive to improving the output torque at low speeds and also has better smoothness of operation. Therefore, it is more common in some low-speed high torque, fans, power tools, and small drive motors.

12 slots with 14 poles, which means 7 pairs of magnetic poles. The number of magnetic poles has further increased, making it more suitable for motors that require higher torque density and lower speed operation. For example, some direct drive motors, fan motors, etc. may use this slot pole combination. However, as the number of poles increases, the electrical frequency of the motor will also increase, and the requirements for the controller will also change.

12 slots with 16 poles, which means 8 pairs of magnetic poles. This scheme has more magnetic poles and is more inclined towards low-speed, high torque applications. It can enable the motor to achieve better output capability at lower speeds, but at the same time, the frequency of the back electromotive force is higher, requiring higher requirements for the driver, control algorithm, and magnet design.

The above is an introduction to how many poles of magnetic rings are required for the title 12 slot stator. If your company needs samples of multi pole magnetic rings and understands the price, you can inquire with us.
