Causes of white particles on nickel plated surface of neodymium magnets

Nickel plating on Neodymium magnet is very common and common. I saw a website asking what happened to white particles on the surface of neodymium iron boron nickel plating? Is it normal? The following permanent magnet manufacturer courage magnet little fu to introduce this problem to you.

The appearance of white particles on the surface of neodymium strong magnets may be due to the following reasons.

1. Oxidation: Neodymium iron boron is a material that is prone to oxidation. If there is no good anti oxidation treatment during the nickel plating process, oxide particles may appear on the surface, appearing white.

2. Plating problem: During the nickel plating process, if there is uneven coating or poor coating quality, white particles may form.

3. Contaminants: If there are pollutants during the nickel plating process, such as impurities, grease, or other chemical substances, they may react with the components in the plating solution and form white particles.

4. Unstable plating solution: The composition and concentration in the plating solution have a significant impact on the quality of the coating. If the composition of the plating solution is unstable or the concentration is improper, it may cause white particles to appear on the surface of the coating.

To solve this problem, the following methods can be considered:

1. Check and improve the formula of the plating solution: Ensure that the composition and concentration in the plating solution meet the requirements to obtain a uniform and high-quality coating.

2. Strengthen surface pretreatment: Before nickel plating, properly clean and treat the surface of neodymium iron boron to remove oxides and pollutants, and improve the adhesion of the coating.

3. Optimization of nickel plating process: Adjust the process parameters of the plating solution, such as temperature, current density, and bath stirring, to achieve better coating quality.

4. Check the contamination of the plating solution and equipment: Ensure that the plating solution and equipment are not affected by impurities, grease, and other pollutants, and regularly clean and maintain the equipment.

5. Control the oxidation of the plating solution: Measures should be taken during the nickel plating process to reduce the occurrence of oxidation reactions, such as adding redox agents or providing an inert atmosphere above the plating solution.

If the problem persists, it is recommended to consult a professional nickel plating technologist or process expert for more specific advice and solutions.
